Victoria Mtui

Location: Mshiri Village, Kilimanjaro Region

Victoria is a mother of four and the wife of Benson Mtui, a dedicated porter on Mount Kilimanjaro. Her family was the very first to be supported through Dealers of Hope Tanzania.

When we first met Victoria, her family was living in extremely difficult conditions in a small, two-room home in their village on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. With limited and inconsistent income, providing for a family of six was a constant challenge.

Benson works as a porter—an honorable and physically demanding job—but like many porters, his work is not guaranteed year-round. During low tourist seasons, there are often long stretches without income. During those times, Victoria became the primary provider, cleaning homes within her village to support her family.

Their home offered little protection from the elements. During the rainy season, water would enter the house, and strong winds would lift the roof. With no plumbing and only a basic outdoor cooking area, daily life required resilience and resourcefulness.

How Dealers of Hope Has Supported

Over the past three years, with the support of our Hope Dealers community, a new, safe, and durable home has been under construction for Victoria and her family. This home is nearing completion and will provide the stability they have long been working toward.

Where They Are Now

Victoria and her family are in a season of transition and progress. Their new home is close to being finished, and Benson is now over one year strong in his sobriety journey—an incredible milestone for both him and his family.

What’s Next

The family is continuing to work toward long-term stability. Ongoing support is still needed to:

• Complete the construction of their home

• Cover school fees for the three youngest children

• Provide continued stability as they build their future
